There have been some outrageous statements in the news lately and America requires a free press that will report the real figures when it comes to the economy so it was horrifying to see a report by one of the largest news publications the New York Times releasing information which on its face is an outright lie but when looking deeper is a danger for our country.

In a piece “U.S. Economy Lost Only 11,000 Jobs in November” By JAVIER C. HERNANDEZ Published: December 4, 2009 the author states that joblessness has fallen from October to November and that the number of jobs lost throughout the United States in the month of November 2009 is only 11,000…

Don’t they have any fact checkers left at the Times or did they all get laid off?

In just the last week of November over 450,000 people filed for first time unemployment. That means THAT WEEK they lost their jobs … or maybe the week before if they were late filing.

The BLS figures that Javier relied on to give his report did not tell the whole picture and it is offensive that he would have stopped at that report as a single source. The report he used in his article is notorious for being inaccurate and is constantly updated with corrected information…

CRAP…  NY City alone probably lost  over 11,000 jobs in November….

It is like relying on United Nations Global Warming Figures the day after you know they have been altered to skew the results.

I could only wish that the figure of 11,000 jobs was accurate but as we look around we all know it is not.

The NY Times and Javier Hernandez need to do the work and make sure they report stories accurately because people’s lives, our communities and country lay in the balance.

We can not have our representatives posturing spending and bailout programs based on bad information that resulted from cursory work by our news agencies.

You can not throw out week after week after week after week of new jobless reports in the half million range and then believe for a second that the total number of jobs lost was only 11,000.. its offensive to everyone out there who needs work and is willing to do it only if they could find some.
