In a move that surprised many environmentalists and consumers that look forward to a day when they can plug in their car at home and not have to deal with buying gasoline made from overseas oil imports the Obama administration put an end to General Motors Volt Electric Vehicle.
Well this week Nissan unveiled its new electric car called the Leaf. It is set for mass production and will get 100 miles per charge with a top speed of 90 miles per hour.
The Leaf car battery can be charged to 80% capacity in about 20 minutes, compared with almost three and a half hours needed for other brands.
This seems like the perfect commuter vehicle that can have its range extended by charging when the driver reaches work or a shopping location.
The Leaf will be in showrooms in Britain, Europe, the US and Japan by the end of next year.
It is being built in the UK’s Sunderland Plant.
Where are those green jobs?
