General Motors will announce today in a 9am news conference that their Pontiac brand of vehicles will end production in hopes of cutting costs.

Hummer and Saturn have already been announced as gone and GM will try to sell their Opel production sometime this month.

This at the same time that Chrysler has announced deals with their Labor Unions in Canada that will set the path to a sale to Fiat. However market watchers are saying this does not totally eliminate the possibility of bankruptcy.

General Motors will keep a number of other lines including Cadillac and Buick.

Buick has had a large following in China where many companies have seen some profits over the past year.
