Goodyear To Close Plant in Tyler Texas

Union workers have voted and agree to close the rubber manufacturing plant in Tyler early.

Previous negotiations had the plant staying open for three years however after 50% of the workers in the mixing operation are let go the plant and the land its on may be sold.

Approximately 200 employees work in the mixing operation which will close in August.

No report as to where the operations will be transferred has yet been made but the company does have mixing operations in Valleyfield, Quebec Canada which will not be effected.

With the value of the Canadian dollar at the same level as the US it really makes you wonder why they would choose to outsource to Canada when the profit margin is not the motive. It seems to be another example of large corporations that earned their place from American sales now selling out the people that built their company.
