Starbucks will be closing 5% of its under performing U.S. coffee shops in an attempt to offset losses do to the general economic downturn. However because most of the stores are located in city centers where there are more Starbucks then parking spaces customers will likely be able to find a near by shop to get their caffeine fix.

Starbucks says that they will be expanding international deployment and although a number of stores are closing another 350 new stores in different locations will take their place.
