Harvard offering free tuition for families making less than $ 60,000 a year after a long debate about the college’s multi-billion dollar surplus in its funds.
Like a number of Ivy League schools Harvard has built a war chest that was funded by donations, tax dollars and tuition. This money was supposed to have been spent for education but recent reports show that the money has been used to foster political goals and lobby local, state and the federal government.
In fear of losing their tax exempt status Harvard along with Yale, Berkley, University of Pennsylvania and other institutions with these multi-billion dollar trusts have decided to give back to the community….
Unfortunately only about 10% or less of Harvard students fall in the $60,000 or less family income level and most of those students already receive financial scholarships and grants that for the most part go to minority students, females and students from abroad.
It is really unfortunate that our government needed to scare them with losing their tax exemption so they would actually use this money for the reason it was given to them.
Anyway if you are interested in such a program then visit their website.
I am sure they will get back to you with a rejection letter since that cost less then spending the money in their trust.
