As a country that prides it self in open social services based on high taxes Sweden has announced that it will end its tradition of free college tuition.
Lars Leijonborg Minister of Education says that the country should benefit from tuition paid by non-European students.
Some 13,000 foreign students currently study at Swedish colleges and universities. Most are men from Asia pursuing technical degrees.
EU member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway will stillĀ have freeĀ tuition under the plan.
