AMD has announced that it has lowered its first quarter projections and will be cutting roughly 1,600 jobs or 10% of its workforce by the end of the third quarter. Outside analysts have noted that profits are actually up from last year same time but projections by AMD show that by year end their overall sales should drop.

This announcement comes after Intel made a similar notice of cutting jobs this year.
