Pfizer one of Terre Haute areas largest employers has decided to cut approximately 650 jobs from their manufacturing plant.
The plant has been located in Terre Haute since 1948 and employed approximately 750 people of which 75 were salaried management.
All the positions will be cut by the middle of this year. The workers had been on paid leave since production was stopped in October.
The reason is loss in sales of an inhaled insulin product that was manufactured at the plant but given the longevity of this location it was hoped that another product would be made and the jobs would be kept.
