According to Chief Financial Officer Donald Brandt Arizona Public Service Co. will cut 300 jobs following a 98 percent drop in profit at the utility.

This cut is suppose to reduce their Labor costs by 7 million dollars in the first quarter.

Arizona Public Service Co. Will be asking for a rate increase from the Public Utilities commission to offset their losses while consumers will see an increase in their monthly bill.

The President of APS Jack Davis says the cuts will come from 100 internal and 100 external positions used mostly for construction projects then explained that 100 open positions will not be filled.

Making anyone wonder how cutting 100 open unfilled jobs actually contributes to the savings we can only guess that there are some very interesting accounting practices going on in a company which is a Public Utility and strictly watched and controlled by the Government.

With Green Technology projects being cut across the country and skyrocketing electricity costs due to coal, oil and gas costs it is really time that we take a strong look at how our future dollars will be spent.

With a 9 square mile low tech solar farm that does not rely on photovotaics (solar cells) but rather on heating a pipe full of liquid gas by using reflector dishes… The Mohave Desert project in Southern California is able to produce half a Gigawatt of electricity every day.

If the same technology was deployed at the Arizona / Mexican border in a 1 mile wide pattern Arizona could produce enough electricity to sell across the south west during the day and then use those profits to buy back electricity at night.

A 1 mile wide Solar Farm along the border would produce enough power to serve millions of homes every day. The land would also fall within the Department of Energy and for that reason it could be secured with any amount of military force necessary.

Electricity can be routed up to 2,000 miles meaning sales and buy backs could be arranged from California to the Eastern United States and as far north as needed.
