The Writers Guild of America said Friday that the union’s 12000 members will go to the streets in a contract bargaining dispute covering royalties paid for Internet and DVD distribution of content.
The Strike is said to effect over 200,000 related workers in the industry and shows like David Letterman, The Colbert Report, Soap Operas and other shows that rely on quick turn around and daily edits.
Because most Studios have prepared for the strike by pre-taping shows and moving up schedules in the late summer and fall some shows will not be effected until after the winter break while others may see early cancellations.
