Chrysler announced just days after setteling its UAW Contract the once Giant of US Car production will be cutting is workforce by 15,000 Salleried and Hourly members. This comes after Chrysler said in Feburary that 8,500 to 10,000 hourly jobs and 2,100 salaried jobs would be eleminiated through 2008.

Union spokeswoman Christine Moroski said no one should feel fooled: “UAW members are smart, they are aware of the problems in the industry and sales and their impact on jobs.”

This statement really begs the question if the Union Membership were really told what will happen in the short run.
